Return to Case Studies

A new mare, was a broodmare with behavioural issues, we planned to try her as a riding horse. Although sweet, she was easily scared, flighty, would panic with little provocation. We were unsure as to the cause of her fearful behaviour and tried to see if it was pain related. We had already worked with her for 2 months, with no improvement.

When a thorough examination revealed no lameness, ArcEquine was tried to see if there was perhaps a pain (such as back/neck) that was causing her behaviour that we couldn’t discern on a veterinary examination. It really was a last-ditch effort to see if she could be salvaged as a riding horse or was limited to use only as breeding stock.

The ArcEquine treatment began initially we planned on doing 1 month of treatment while she was worked with on a daily basis in a “normal” training program. After about 4 days of treatment, her behaviour had changed – she stood calmly for her halter to be put on (normally a frightening procedure), and stayed calm through her grooming and basic care. The decision was made to stay on the current ArcEquine treatment for the entire month. By the end of the month, she was not only able to be worked consistently at home without any panicked behavioural episodes, but was able to haul to other farms for riding lessons.

This has lasted 6 months after ArcEquine treatment. She was able to go to a very large, major horse show and compete over fences, despite 10 rings of competition, hundreds of horses, loudspeakers… her past behaviour would NEVER have been able to deal with any of that when we got her.

I would recommend the ArcEquine to a friend.
