I owe so much to ArcEquine. Back in 2022, my lovely 18.1hh, 4 year old ISH, Sky, had just been started under saddle, and was enjoying a holiday at grass. He suffered a devastating field injury, resulting in an rupture to his near fore deep digital flexor tendon. Whilst not a severe hole or tear, the tendon was clearly ruptured, with the scan showing a disorganised array of tendon fibres. The vet said the prognosis differed for each individual horse, his size would not help him – but his age / youth definitely would.
A friend at the yard recommended the ArcEquine unit as it had helped her horse through a number of injuries, including recovery from kissing spines surgery and muscular issues. I started the ArcEquine treatment programme as soon as Sky had been scanned and formerly diagnosed by the vet. He had to get through a 12 week period of box rest – a huge ordeal for such a big young horse, however he was an absolute saint throughout, and I used the ArcEquine daily, following the easy to follow, progressive programme.
We had the vet out to scan Sky’s tendon every 6 weeks, and it is safe to say the vet observed an unexpected degree of progress in the healing even after the first 6 weeks. This I fully attribute to the use of the ArcEquine unit, and following the recommended programme. He was allowed to go out on small paddock turnout for short spells after 10 weeks.
He scanned clear and trotted up sound after 5 months – which was incredible and totally unexpected. I actually gave Sky a full 10 months off ridden work (just to be on the safe side), I just introduced long reining out and about to help strengthen his tendon and increase his overall fitness. The horse has remained sound ever since, and he is in full work, as we train towards a career in showjumping and eventing. I still use the ARC once a week to aid Sky’s overall well being and soundness. It’s a superb device – and should be regarded as a member of your horse care team!
