Flyn An 18hh gelding who I bred for dressage and was born in about 2011. We brought him on very slowly due to his size and was doing really well in simple dressage competitions ridden by my daughter. Whilst I was away on holiday he was being looked after by a lady who was doing very simple competitions with him and extra basic training but during this time he injured his suspensory ligament in his nearside hind. By the time I returned from holiday and unfortunately due to neglect he was not treated even with bute, he was in a bad way. I brought him home only for my vet to say that his injury was really severe and if he didn’t improve within two weeks he was going to put him down. We tried all sorts of supports, pain management but nothing was really helpin. At this point he was about five and he looked like a poor yearling. The ARCequine was recommended by a friend and so we started treatment. He had it on every day for ten weeks, three or four times a day. He was not put on box rest but was allowed to wonder in and out of his stable to a small yard which we have so he was able to rest and lie down when he needed to. When the vet returned to scan his leg again he couldn’t believe the improvement and the hole in the ligament that had shown up on the first scan had completely disappeared. Not only that but the fibres had acually healed lengthways which meant that the ligament had been healed in the correct way. We gradually brought Flyn back in to work but due to his size he was unable to go back to dressage. Neverthless, and although we had to have him put down 18 months ago, we had him for an extra 5 years which we wouldn’t have had if it hadn’t been for the ARC unit.
It is not a quick fix but patience and diligence certainly worked and I would recommend the ARC Equine to anyone who had a horse with soft tissue injuries.
