Getting Started
What is the ArcEquine?
The ArcEquine is an equine microcurrent therapy device designed to support your horse’s natural healing processes, aid tissue repair, assist with pain management, and support overall wellbeing.
The device delivers a subsensory microcurrent, meaning your horse will not feel the electrical current during treatment.
How does the ArcEquine work?
The ArcEquine delivers low-level microcurrent therapy that works at a cellular level to support the body’s natural repair mechanisms.
Unlike therapies that focus solely on masking discomfort, microcurrent therapy is designed to support tissue repair and help the body address underlying inflammation and recovery.
Safety and Suitability
Which horses can use the ArcEquine?
The ArcEquine is suitable for most horses and ponies, regardless of age, breed, or discipline.
If your horse has a diagnosed medical condition, is pregnant, has active cancer or is under veterinary care, we recommend discussing any treatment plan with your veterinary surgeon prior to use.
Can foals use the ArcEquine?
The ArcEquine has been designed primarily for horses and ponies. If you wish to use the device on a foal, we recommend consulting your veterinary surgeon beforehand.
Can I use the ArcEquine after surgery?
Yes. Many owners choose to use the ArcEquine as part of a post-operative recovery programme.
Always follow your veterinary surgeon’s advice and ensure any surgical wounds have been appropriately managed before commencing treatment.
Can I place the ArcEquine on open wounds?
No. The ArcEquine should not be applied directly over open wounds, broken skin, or areas of significant skin irritation.
As the therapy works systemically, the device does not need to be positioned directly over the injury site and so can be placed on an alternative leg to the open wound.
Should I consult my vet before using the ArcEquine?
Microcurrent therapy is non-invasive and drug-free. However, if your horse has an existing medical condition, is receiving veterinary treatment, or you have concerns regarding suitability, we recommend consulting your veterinary surgeon.
The ArcEquine should be used alongside, not instead of, professional veterinary care. We are always happy to discuss our product more with equine professionals, should they require more information.
Should I stop my horse’s prescribed medication when using the ArcEquine?
No. Continue administering any medication prescribed by your veterinary surgeon unless advised otherwise by them.
Is the ArcEquine safe?
Yes. Microcurrent therapy has been extensively studied in both human and veterinary applications and has an established safety profile when used according to instructions.
Are there any side effects?
Microcurrent therapy may have a mild dehydrating effect. Ensure your horse always has access to clean drinking water and remains adequately hydrated.
Evidence and Effectiveness
Is there scientific evidence supporting microcurrent therapy?
Yes. Microcurrent therapy has been studied for decades in both medical and veterinary settings. Numerous peer-reviewed studies, reviews, and case reports support its safety and therapeutic potential across a range of applications.
How long does it take to see results?
Every horse responds differently, so no specific timeframe can be guaranteed.
Some owners report seeing improvements within days, while others notice gradual changes over several weeks. Consistent use according to the recommended protocol generally delivers the best results.
The ArcEquine is designed to support ongoing recovery, performance, comfort, and wellbeing rather than provide an instant solution.
What conditions is the ArcEquine commonly used for?
Owners commonly use the ArcEquine to support horses experiencing:
- General stiffness and discomfort
- Soft tissue injuries
- Tendon and ligament injuries
- Laminitis, EMS
- Navicular, Arthritis
- Joint-related issues
- Recovery from exercise or competition
- Post-operative rehabilitation
- Sarcoids
- Age-related mobility concerns
The ArcEquine is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Always seek veterinary advice for diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.
Using the ArcEquine
Will my horse feel anything during treatment?
No. The ArcEquine delivers subsensory microcurrent, meaning horses do not normally feel any sensation during treatment.
This is completely normal and does not indicate that the device is not working.
Where should I place the ArcEquine?
The ArcEquine is designed to be worn on the lower leg, on the outside of the cannon bone.
The device is designed to work systemically, so it does not need to be placed directly over an injury or area of concern.
How often should I use the ArcEquine?
For best results, follow the recommended treatment protocol outlined in the user manual.
We recommend daily use the ArcEquine during the initial treatment phase and then adjust frequency depending on their horse’s individual needs, workload, and health goals.
How long is each treatment session?
The ArcEquine provides two treatment programmes:
- 1-hour programme
- 3-hour programme
Detailed guidance on programme selection is provided in the user manual.
Can my horse wear the ArcEquine overnight?
We recommend removing the ArcEquine as soon as possible once the programme has finished to reduce the risk of damage to the unit, and to avoid having the leg wrapped for extended periods of time.
Can my horse exercise while wearing the ArcEquine?
Many horses can comfortably wear the ArcEquine while resting, travelling, or stabled.
Please ensure the device is securely fitted and will not be exposed to water if choosing to exercise whilst wearing the device.
Do I need any training to use the ArcEquine?
No. The ArcEquine has been designed for straightforward use by horse owners and comes with a comprehensive user manual.
Our customer support team is also available to assist if you have any questions.
Competition and Regulatory Questions
Can the ArcEquine be used on competition horses?
Microcurrent therapy itself is non-drug based, however, competition rules may vary between governing bodies and disciplines.
We recommend checking the latest regulations with the relevant governing organisation before use during competition periods.
Will the ArcEquine result in a positive doping test?
The ArcEquine does not administer any drugs or substances.
However, owners are responsible for ensuring compliance with the rules of their sport or governing body.
Battery, Maintenance and Accessories
Is the ArcEquine rechargeable?
Yes. The ArcEquine contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. A full charge provides approximately 30 hours of treatment.

- Conductive gel
- Carbon rubber pads
- Straps

Still Have Questions?
If you cannot find the answer you’re looking for, our customer service team will be happy to help. We are always available to answer questions about the ArcEquine, treatment protocols, accessories, and general use.
Getting Started
Which programme should I use?
The ArcEquine has four treatment programmes, each designed to support different therapeutic goals.
Your user manual includes recommended treatment protocols to support:
- General wellbeing and maintenance
- Injury or post-surgery recovery and rehabilitation
- Inflammation management
We recommend following the protocol that best matches your horse’s needs. If you are unsure which programme is most appropriate, please contact our customer service team, who will be happy to help.
How often should I use the ArcEquine?
For best results, we recommend following the treatment protocol outlined in your user manual and using the ArcEquine consistently.
Daily use is recommended during the initial treatment phase. Once your chosen protocol has been completed, you can adjust the frequency according to your horse’s individual needs. Many owners continue to use the ArcEquine regularly as part of their horse’s ongoing management routine.
We recommend using the ArcEquine at least twice per month to help maintain benefits and support battery health.
What happens if I miss a day?
Don’t worry, there is no need to restart the protocol.
Simply continue from the programme and day you last completed and continue until you have finished the recommended treatment period.
Consistency is important, but occasional missed sessions will not undo previous progress.
Fitting and Wearing the ArcEquine
Do I need to place the ArcEquine near the injury?
No.
The ArcEquine works systemically at a cellular level and does not need to be positioned directly over the area you are trying to support.
The recommended placement is on the lower leg, on the outside of the cannon bone. As long as the device is fitted correctly and maintains good contact, it can provide the intended therapy.
Can my horse wear the ArcEquine overnight?
We recommend removing the ArcEquine as soon as possible once the programme has finished to avoid damage to the unit, and to avoid having the leg wrapped for extended periods of time.
Can my horse wear the ArcEquine while travelling?
Yes.
Many owners use the ArcEquine during transport to support comfort and recovery. Ensure the device is securely fitted and protected to avoid potential damage or water ingress and that your horse remains comfortable throughout the journey.
Can my horse be turned out while wearing the ArcEquine?
The ArcEquine is most commonly used while horses are stabled, resting, or under supervision.
If using the device during turnout, ensure it is securely fitted and checked regularly. As every horse’s management situation is different, use your judgement to ensure the device remains safe, dry and protected.
During Treatment
Should my horse feel anything during treatment?
No.
The ArcEquine delivers subsensory microcurrent therapy, meaning horses do not normally feel any sensation during treatment. This is completely normal and does not indicate the device is not working. The indicator lights on the delivery unit confirm that treatment is being delivered correctly.
My horse seems unsettled while wearing the ArcEquine. What should I do?
Most horses quickly accept the ArcEquine and show little awareness of it – in fact many horses fall asleep whilst receiving their treatment.
If your horse appears unsettled:
- Check the fit of the strap.
- Ensure the pads are making good contact.
- Make sure the strap is not too tight.
- Introduce the device gradually if your horse is particularly sensitive.
If concerns persist, please contact our customer service team.
What happens if my horse’s symptoms temporarily appear worse?
Occasionally, owners may notice a temporary increase in signs of discomfort or sensitivity during the early stages of treatment.
This is usually short-lived and may occur before improvement is noticed.
If symptoms are unexpected, severe, or cause concern, discontinue use and consult your veterinary surgeon. You may also contact our customer service team for guidance.
Can the ArcEquine be used alongside veterinary treatment?
Yes.
The ArcEquine is intended to complement, not replace, veterinary care. It can often be incorporated into rehabilitation and management plans alongside professional veterinary advice.
Always follow your veterinary surgeon’s recommendations.
Skin Care and Sensitivity
My horse’s skin has become irritated. What should I do?
Skin sensitivity is uncommon but can occasionally occur.
To help reduce the risk:
- Do not overtighten the strap.
- Ensure the area is clean before use.
- Remove the device promptly after treatment.
- Alternate legs each time you run a programme.
- Do not apply the device over broken or irritated skin.
- Keep pads clean and well maintained.
If irritation develops, discontinue use until the area has recovered and contact our customer service team for advice.
Could my horse be reacting to the conductive gel?
The conductive gel supplied with the ArcEquine is water-soluble and designed for sensitive skin.
Although uncommon, some horses may react to one or more ingredients.
If this occurs:
- Wash the area thoroughly.
- Stop using the gel.
- Contact our customer service team for advice.
Connection and Troubleshooting
I’m finding it difficult to establish a connection. What should I do?
Please allow a few seconds for the ArcEquine to establish a connection, as this is not always immediate.
If you are still experiencing difficulties, check the following:
- Make sure the delivery unit is charged.
- Apply sufficient conductive gel when using carbon rubber pads.
- Ensure self-adhesive pads are securely attached.
- Check the strap positioning.
- Avoid overtightening the strap.
- Confirm the lead is fully inserted into the delivery unit.
My ArcEquine switches off after a couple of minutes. Why?
This usually happens because the treatment programme has not been started.
After selecting your chosen programme, press the right-hand ‘Play’ button to begin treatment.
If a programme is not started, the ArcEquine automatically powers down after a short period to conserve battery life.
My ArcEquine doesn’t seem to be working. What should I check?
Before contacting support, please check:
- The battery is sufficiently charged.
- The programme has been selected and started correctly.
- The lead is securely connected.
- The pads are clean and in good condition.
- The device is fitted correctly.
- The indicator lights are functioning as described in the user manual.
If problems persist, please contact our customer service team.
The green light is flashing. Is that normal?
Yes.
A flashing green light normally indicates that the ArcEquine is running correctly and delivering treatment.
Please refer to your user manual for a full guide to indicator light meanings.
Charging and Battery
How long does the ArcEquine take to charge?
Before first use, fully charge the ArcEquine.
Charging typically takes approximately four hours.
The charging indicator will change from flashing amber to flashing green when charging is complete.
A full charge provides approximately 30 hours of treatment.
Do I need to replace the battery?
No.
The ArcEquine contains a sealed rechargeable lithium-ion battery which is not user-replaceable.
If a battery fault develops within the warranty period, the delivery unit may be replaced in accordance with the warranty terms.
To maximise battery life, we recommend using and charging the device regularly rather than leaving it unused for extended periods.
How can I maximise battery life?
To help maintain battery performance:
- Charge the device regularly.
- Avoid completely draining the battery whenever possible.
- Use the device periodically, even during breaks from treatment.
- Store the device in a cool, dry environment.
Caring for Your ArcEquine
Can I wash the strap?
No.
The strap contains electrical components and must not be submerged in water.
Instead, wipe it clean using a damp cloth.
Your kit includes a removable liner, this may be washed according to the care instructions provided.
How do I clean the carbon rubber pads?
Clean only the contact surface using a soft cloth and mild soapy water.
Remove any soap residue and allow the pads to dry completely before reattaching them to the strap.
When should I replace my pads or gel?
The conductive gel, and carbon rubber pads are consumable items and will wear naturally over time.
Replace them whenever:
- Carbon rubber pads show signs of deterioration.
- Gel becomes contaminated or depleted.
Replacement accessories are available through our online shop.
Competition and Performance Use
Can I use the ArcEquine during competition season?
Many owners use the ArcEquine as part of their horse’s ongoing performance and recovery programme.
However, competition rules vary between organisations and disciplines. Always check with the relevant governing body regarding permitted therapies and timing of use.
Can the ArcEquine help with recovery after exercise?
Many owners incorporate the ArcEquine into their horse’s routine following training, competition, or strenuous exercise as part of a broader recovery and management programme. By reducing inflammation and lactic acid build up, the ArcEquine can help your horse recover faster post exercise.
Warranty and Support
My ArcEquine has developed a fault. What should I do?
If you believe your ArcEquine has developed a manufacturing fault, please contact our customer service team and provide your proof of purchase. We normally ask for a video or photos of the problem in the first instance, as sometimes this can avoid the need for you to send in your device for testing.
If the issue is covered under warranty, we will explain the next steps for repair or replacement.
My ArcEquine is outside its warranty. What are my options?
If your device is outside the warranty period and has reached the end of its service life, please contact us.
Existing customers may be eligible for upgrade or trade-in options, depending on the circumstances.
Can I buy replacement accessories?
Yes.
Replacement consumables and accessories, including pads, gel, straps, liners, chargers, and leads, are available through our online shop.
