Breed: WB x TB

Prinny; 16hh wb x tb mare 7 yrs old

Following box rest for sarcoid surgery she became severely lame on both hind-limbs. Vet diagnosed kissing spine and bilateral hindlimb psd and SI pain on 24 April 17. Underwent removal of dorsal spinous process of t15&16 and bilateral hindlimb neurectomy and fasciotomy on 12 May 17

Vets prognosis was guarded for return to ridden work.
6 week rehab cycle of arc started 26 May, followed by daily use on level 3 for a further 4 months, with a week of level 1 if she looked uncomfortable.
Then turned away for 3 months before beginning ridden work. Did another 6 week course of arc at this time
She has come back into full work and vets feel
She had exceeded expectations and we both feel the arc had played a huge part in her rehab

I now use the arc approx 3 times a week but if she feels lack lustre when ridden we do a full daily course for a week and that seems to perk her up again

I generally feel the arc had been an invaluable tool for Prinny’s rehab and that without it we would not have made such great progress in a relatively short space of time given the multiple problems she had. She has a totally different attitude to work and is always sharp and willing. A huge difference to how she was previously (lazy and sluggish)

Just to add… When the vet came to do the 8 week post op check (after 6 weeks of arc use) he was amazed how well she was moving. Totally sound
