Return to Case Studies

Monty (General Montgomery) came to me through his owners on permanent loan at the beginning of August 2016, he had been retired from racing having blown a tendon. He had been previously fired and was being gradually returned to fitness in the hopes of racing him in Autumn 2016, however his tendon was seen to be swollen (there was a distinctive ‘bow”) and he was placed on box rest.

Fortunately when he arrived with us he was sound, although the leg did not look or feel good. When he came to me I contacted you for advice on his rehab and started following the ArcEquine programme immediately. Box rest was followed by a gradual increase in walking in hand and then 15 minutes walking under saddle. We are now hacking and have started to introduce him to basic school work in the menage, his leg is dramatically less swollen and it is cold and hard. We scanned him 2 months and 1 week after the initial scans and the very obvious hole was fully filled in. We intend to re-scan him in a few weeks time before we start to increase his workload and before we re-introduce jumping.

What can I say? My vet is amazed and I am delighted. The scans were taken 80 days apart and we have strictly followed your programme.
