Various injuries followed in my career as a Remedial Gymnast and Recreational Therapist as well as Physiotherapist. So I was not surprised when I began to experience discomfort in my knees as I reached my 60’s.

In 2009 after retiring, I gradually became unable to participate in walks of an hour without pain and being unable to walk to enough speed to keep up with a walking group. Following a wait of a year to see an orthopaedic surgeon who diagnosed general wear and tear and bilateral split medial menisci. Another year to receive surgery in 2013, I had an arthroscopic clean up and partial meniscectomy of my right knee (I chose to only have one done at a time). Recovery was slow and full flexion and kneeling was painful. Walking was easier for a while but the same problems began to come back. The left knee continued to give me trouble on and off. I reluctantly called the surgeon’s office and am still waiting for that appointment.

I began using the Arc in October 2015 and after 3 weeks I began to notice a significant difference. After 5 weeks I began to test my knee over a longer distance and began increasing the pace. I have not had a problem with either knee since walking at speed since, and now plan to return to the walking group. As a bonus the area numbness over the right patella, which was a residual effect of my surgery, is now resolving gradually and the scar is fading.

I have had a lot of good results from this wonderful piece of equipment personally and I recommend it to everyone I meet who starts complaining about their aches and pains (which at my age is very frequent!). Most of those people who have used it consistently for more than a few weeks have already had a good result.

I plan to keep my appointment with my surgeon, when I finally get it, to look at my new x-ray and let him know how I recovered.

In the late 1970’s I first injured my knees in a skiing accident.
